About Us

The home was opened in 1987 by Mrs Heather Hamilton (SRN, SCM, HV Cert.) and Heather is still very much involved in the day to day running of the home. Her daughter Lucy (BA Hons, RGN, Dip in Nursing Studies) personally manages the home, supported by a team of highly qualified and motivated staff. Together they have created this very special home which is capable of combining professionalism with friendship and loving care. Patrick Hamilton (son) and William Hamilton are the general managers. The home is very much a family run affair. Both family and staff are determined to keep the nursing home as homely as possible. Each resident is treated with the same care that they would wish for a member of their own family.

What We Do

The decision to come into nursing care.

For all of us there may come a time when we are unable to look after our loved ones in their own homes and nursing care may become an option that we have to consider.

We know that this is a very difficult decision and can be very stressful for families. We want to help.

Since opening in 1987, the home has acquired an unrivalled reputation for the excellence of its nursing care and the warmth and homeliness of the atmosphere.

Residents have come to live in this home for a variety of reasons, some of which are incapacity due to illness, fragility, loneliness or recuperation after being in hospital. We want families to feel full confidence that their relatives will be treated as if they were our own family and that you’re placing them in good hands.

The purpose of the Hamilton Home is to provide an environment in which the needs of each resident are positively met and where the pattern of life, previously enjoyed by residents in their own homes is preserved as far as possible.

We will ensure at all times that residents’ rights to privacy, dignity, independence, choice, freedom and personal fulfilment are always respected.

It is our belief that people who live in nursing care should do so with dignity and that they should have the respect of those who support them. The quality of life in our home is enhanced by the inclusion of a wide range of normal activities, particularly those with which residents have been familiar in the past. Musical entertainment, religious services, activity therapy, shopping trips and outings are all provided on a regular basis. Both Patrick Hamilton and William Hamilton are accomplished musicians and play for residents regularly.

We also organise the following services:

  • Aromatherapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Chiropody
  • Hairdressing
  • Mobile Library
  • Daily papers
  • Optician
  • Dentist

FAQs

What are the fees?

£926 per week nursing care and £953 per week nursing care with ensuite facility.

How will my care be funded?

Should your savings amount to more than £23,250 you are likely to be required to fund your own care. If this is the case you will still be entitled to receive ‘Nursing Care Allowance’ of £100 per week and also ‘Attendance Allowance’, as well as all your pensions and incomes.

If you have less than £23,250 the Healthcare Trust will contribute towards most of the cost of your care. Current Trust funding however does not meet the full cost of care at Hamilton Home. This differential is commonly referred to as a third party contribution. This rate is currently £73 or £100 for an ensuite. Fees are reviewed on an annual basis and are subject to change.

How will I be billed?

Invoices are processed at the end of each month and are paid in arrears.

What are the procedures for admission?

We will visit each prospective resident to introduce ourselves and tell you about our home. We will do a nursing assessment to help us prepare for your admission.

What are the visiting times?

We want you to feel welcome and that the home is your own so you can visit at any time.

Is Day Care available?

At present we are not registered with Regulation Quality Inspection Authority to provide day care.

Is a full laundry service available?

Yes.

Do my clothes need to be labelled?

Yes all clothes need to be labelled prior to admission.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately no, but they are very welcome to visit. We have a nursing home dog called Elmo.

What if I have a complaint?

We take all complaints seriously. Hamilton Home has a formal complaints procedure which is explained fully on admission.
